Faculty and Staff

Our Faculty

A large group of people stand together on outdoor steps in front of a modern building under a clear blue sky.

At Carden Hall, our teachers are the heart of our school. They are known for their genuine care for each child, exceptional teaching ability, mastery of the Carden Method, and commitment to inspiring a lifelong love of learning. By fostering curiosity, confidence, and character, they help every student reach his or her fullest potential.

Our faculty members hold degrees in a wide range of academic disciplines and represent nearly 1,000 years of combined teaching experience at Carden Hall. This remarkable depth of experience reflects the dedication, stability, and excellence–hallmarks of our school for generations.

Rooted in the Carden Method

Every Carden Hall teacher completes comprehensive training in the Carden Method before entering the classroom. Our teacher-training program was originally developed by Mrs. Jane Jones, one of the founders of Carden Hall, who studied under Miss Mae Carden for fourteen years. Through an updated version of this training program, the educational philosophy and instructional standards established by Miss Carden continue in every classroom.

Miss Mae Carden believed that great teaching begins with the character and knowledge of the teacher:

"You teach what you are.

You cannot teach what you do not know.

You cannot impart what you do not thoroughly understand."

Commitment to Excellence

Professional Development

Guided by this philosophy, our faculty embraces the concept of lifelong learning. Professional development takes place before, during, and after each school year. These opportunities deepen our teachers' knowledge, strengthen our teams, and support the academic and personal growth of every student. Our sessions include topics such as the Carden Method, Singapore Math, reading instruction, executive functioning skills, conflict resolution, grit, critical thinking, and the pedagogy of wonder.

Mentorship

Our commitment to teacher development extends well beyond initial training. New teachers benefit from preparation, practice, classroom observations, and continuous guidance from our experienced mentors. Weekly grade-level meetings, peer observations, and regular feedback foster collaboration and continuous growth for all faculty. This ensures that teaching in every classroom is strong and effective.

Through preparation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, our talented faculty creates an environment where academic achievement, character, and a love of learning thrive.

"I am so grateful for the environment my children get to learn in and from. It brings me great comfort knowing my girls are surrounded by kind, present, and intentional leaders that demonstrate the behaviors and qualities they are teaching." Current Carden Hall Parent
